Technical Product Owner, Embedded Software

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Tennant Company, a technology leader in developing sustainable cleaning solutions, is recruiting for a Technical Product Owner with a background in embedded software. You will be part of the R&D organization in the Embedded Software Center of Excellence. The successful candidate will participate in the development of a broad range of innovative product designs that utilizes the latest in technology. We are looking for a product owner who is passionate about building great products, enjoys working with a team of talented engineers and is eager to take on big challenges. As part of this team, you will have the ability to contribute significantly to the delivery of our award-winning products around the world!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• You will work with engineering leadership, Integration and System engineers, and the development team to create, maintain and prioritize the development backlog.
• You will work with development teams to validate design direction, decompose features into a backlog of Agile stories, and refine those stories into sprint-ready tasks.
• Work with engineering managers to drive prioritization alignment across the development portfolio to meet the goals of the Tennant Company annual operating plan.
• Participate in the daily Scrums, Sprint Planning Meetings, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives.
• Drive clarification of the development team's questions and resolve conflict regarding features and requirements.
• Support effort estimations by the development teams.
• Work with Scrum teams to create sprint plans to meet broader program delivery schedules.
• Create status reports, report on product development progress and plans to Project Mangers, peers, customers, and leadership team.
• Deliver input for project planning & execution.
• Work in an agile team and support other team members in their learning journey.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Years of Relevant Work Experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related field with appropriate experience.
• Proven experience in requirements decomposition and test traceability.
• 3-5+ years of experience developing embedded software in C or C++.
• 3-5+ years as a software product owner.
• Knowledge of distributed control systems
• Experience with operating systems such as Embedded Linux or RTOS.
• Solid understanding of software development life cycle models including expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles.
• Familiarity with agile software development processes (e.g., SCRUM, Kanban) and tools (Atlassian Jira/Confluence).
• Ability to manage stakeholders, coordinate developers and drive the creation of concepts for technical solutions.
