The Role
The Technical Program Manager, New Product Introduction is responsible for managing the operations perimeter in its entirety as it relates to introducing major coordinated changes or packages into the factory or factories. This requires the Technical Program Manager, New Product Introduction to lead a cross-functional team to ensure engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain validation targets have been met for each change. During major build events, they are the glue that manages the entire operational parameter from kickoff, tracks readiness, and executes. The Technical Program Manager will be responsible for the factory readiness and successful tactical implementation of programs/changes into production readiness and sustaining operations. This high impact role will also facilitate problem solving from issue definition, root cause analysis, containment, preventative action, implementation, and feedback. No problem is too big or small. Persistence, attention to detail, dealing with ambiguity, and ability to build strong relationships is key.
Responsibilities
- Drive all new products or programs' introduction into the factory/factories (from program scope, product definition, MBOM creation, supply chain readiness, to implementation
- Drive supply chain readiness and handover from launch planning to production planning; organize and oversee factory transition; and follow-up on excess/obsolescence planning and post program/service introduction activities
- Plan, organize, and orchestrate all pre-launch build activities including slow builds, part trials, design iterations, DV/PV validation, and PPA
- Manage significant sample size part trials with Associates, Technicians, and Engineers and define KPI metrics of success (Safety, Quality, OEE, Production Targets)
- Approve design changes by reviewing engineering drawings (2D drawings and CAD) and engineering data (strength of materials, NVH, heat transfer, vehicle integration, and design tolerance stack up)
- Author weekly/as needed project status, summary, and issue resolution tracking reports Lead cross functional technical initiatives to drive improved quality and first pass yield
- Participate in and lead various cross-functional Program and Manufacturing Readiness forums. Provide concise and clear updates on status, action plans, and recovery plans as necessary at both working and executive level
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent. Strong preference for prior automotive engineering background
- Strong understanding of multidiscipline (Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems/Industrial) engineering fundamentals with the ability to implement engineering 1st principles in problem solving methodologies
- Be agile and able to de-prioritize and prioritize work based on program milestones and deliverables, and the capability to lead in situations with high ambiguity and undefined scope
- Strong interpersonal skills dealing with all levels of an organization. Able to effectively and confidently communicate to senior and executive level leadership
- Team player; ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with cross-functional teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Well versed with common workplace software/tools (word processor, spreadsheets, JIRA, CATIA etc.). Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and maintain composure under high amounts of work/stress
