Technical Project Manager

Our Raleigh-based Biomechanics and Physiological Modeling Group is seeking a motivated individual with a science/health background and a proven track record in project management. In this role, you will support challenging projects that involve predictive modeling to support research in health and safety.

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking an early career project manager to support a multidisciplinary team developing predictive models and software in the fields of health and safety. Our Raleigh-based Biomechanics and Physiological Modeling Group is seeking candidates with a degree in science, engineering, or related discipline, with additional training in business administration and/or project management. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science and health technologies and dedicated to ensuring superior project deliverables, on time and on budget. With their science background, the candidate will be expected to have the skills to compare technical progress to expended costs and report to senior managers. To succeed in this position, the candidate should be self-directed with experience developing interim objectives that contribute to the team and project goals, be confident in their leadership skills, and be ready to learn and grow in the role.

Technical Project Manager Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage proposal preparation teams comprised of technical and administrative support staff to ensure the quality and completeness of submitted proposal packages through our corporate contracts office
• Assisting project managers and division management with maintaining situational awareness of the technical and financial status of ongoing funded projects
• Serving as a project manager supporting principal investigators on research work
• Reviewing technical documentation
• Perform scientific tasks such as literature searches, writing abstracts, etc.
• Fostering relationships with ARA staff and clients

Technical Project Manager Required Skills:

• Excellent MS Office skills
• Project management experience
• Ability to work with scientists and engineers
• Attention to detail and a high degree of organization
• Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills

Position is open to hybrid work, not remote.

Technical Project Manager Position Requirements:

• Due to the work, you'll perform and interactions with the intelligence community and DoD programs you must be a US citizen and will need to be eligible to apply for and hold a US Security Clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements at the time of employment)
• Bachelor's degree (Masters degree preferred) in a science, engineering, or related discipline along with 2-4 years of related work experience
• CAPM or higher certification
