Why We Need You-The Mission

Biscom is an enterprise software company located in Westford, MA, providing a secure file transfer platform for its clients. Biscom focuses on transforming the way companies share information by providing a fast, reliable, and secure document delivery solution. In 1986, Biscom introduced the world's first network-based computer fax server. Today, the company has evolved from its humble beginnings into a leading secure communication and messaging platform that powers the most complex requirements in industries, including healthcare and financial services, where security and speed matters most. As part of a recent investment by ParkerGale Capital at the tail end of 2021, the company is preparing to undergo a period of transformation and growth.

This position will report to the Head of Engineering in the Westford, MA location

What You'll Accomplish-Your Performance Objectives

Objective #1: In your first 30 days:

  • Build relationships with team members across Engineering, Product, Support, and Operations.
  • Gain initial understanding of existing Jira, Scrum, and Software Development processes.
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies and help maintain Jira board with team assistance.
  • Run your first daily standup. Assist team members with any obstacles or challenges they may encounter.

Objective #2: In your first 3 months:

  • Contribute to improving Jira configuration and reporting capabilities.
  • Participate in backlog grooming and planning.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of technology, architecture, and product design.
  • Establish ownership and responsibility for a Scrum team, facilitating all ceremonies.

Objective #3: In your first 6 months:

  • Able to track project processes, deliverables, and metrics. Prepare and present status reports to cross-functional leadership.
  • Cultivate robust and sustainable working relationships between business and technology teams to foster a cross-functional team environment.
  • Coach team members to properly define and estimate Stories for higher levels of agile maturity while assisting the Product Owner to continually keep a sufficient set of stories defined and estimated.
  • Become a key contributor in long-term product roadmap planning.
  • Continue driving change in our organization to adopt best practice Agile methodologies.

Technical Skills:

  • Project Management experience working within an Agile framework.
  • Applicable certifications preferred but not required (Scrum, PMsI-ACP, PMP, etc.).
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the SDLC.
  • Experienced managing a project with Jira or comparable tools.

Accountable: A hands-on attitude and a willingness to get things done.
