Technical Project Manager
Job Description
Job Summary:
The Technical Project Manager position will manage key projects within the GSP Technology department involving internal and/or 3rd party resources. The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing Waterfall and Agile Scrum projects to successful completion, ensuring that projects deliver on time, on budget, and in accordance with approved standards and guidelines. Position works very closely with internal and external business stakeholders, the Software Development team and Product team. Must be comfortable working with all levels of management, reporting key metrics on a regular basis, and acting as a servant leader. Experience working in a Software as a Service (SaaS) and/or Retail environment is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing leadership to cross-functional project teams
- Challenge, coach and guide teams using Agile and Lean principles
- Utilize Software ALM system to maximize traceability of Themes, Epics, User Stories and Test Cases
- Conduct daily stand-ups with development team and Product Owner
- Develop project plan, scope, goals and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders
- Manage project life cycle from definition through implementation
- Ensure projects are delivered according to scope, cost, schedule, and quality measures
- Execute project tasks as per the project plan and drive project milestones ensuring timely delivery
- Prepare status reports and budgets to keep management, customers and others informed of the project status and issues
- Facilitate decision making on project change requests, project priorities, and project trade-offs
while effectively balancing multiple needs and drive communication channels with key stakeholders
- Maintaining current project documentation
- Escalates program risks to the project sponsor when appropriate
- Works with procurement team to create, administer, track, and eventually close program contracts
- Makes recommendations for training and development needs for assigned personnel
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years prior experience in active management of resource loaded project schedules and resource assignments using Microsoft Project.
- Minimum of 5 years prior experience in solicitation, documentation, and validation of business requirements, and participation in the translation of those requirements into system design features.
- Broad background - ability to learn a new business quickly
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with customer-facing web application development
Qualifications, Skills Abilities and Competencies:
- 5+ years of project management and/or Scrum Master experience
- Certified Project Management Proficiency (PMI-PMP), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe 4 Practitioner (SP), SAFe 4 Scrum Master (SSM), SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge and experience utilizing Agile management tools (e.g. Microsoft Azure DevOps Server, JIRA, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of MS Project, Visio, Excel, Word
- Strong awareness and intuition towards group/team dynamics
- Natural leader who proactively coaches team members to perform at an elite level
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with PC's to include knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), maintaining data bases, generating information and tracking status using proprietary software
- Ability to contribute to building a strong and positive team spirit as well as align with GSP values
Physical demands:
- Candidate must be able to commute within their metro area and travel in the United States as needed
- PC/Keyboard: Position requires extensive work on computers, using keyboards and viewing monitor
- Sitting: Remaining in the seated position for lengthy periods of time
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds by ear
