Who are we hiring?
The Sphere Show Systems Technology team pioneers’ cutting-edge technologies to enhance immersive experiences at Sphere and seeks a skilled Robotics Technical Project Manager. Reporting to the Director of Robotics, you will lead pivotal technology projects, ensuring successful delivery within scope, time, and budget. The role demands strong technical acumen, flexibility, project management skills, and seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams and strategic vendors. Responsibilities will include managing internal processes, documentation, budget tracking, work back schedules, and resource planning for robotics department objectives. A solid Project Management foundation, coupled with a drive for innovation and collaboration, is essential.
What will you do?
1. Project Planning and Execution:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, defining scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Execute projects according to the project plan, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project deliverables.
- Proactively build capacity and flexibility to respond quickly to changing variables and stakeholder input.
2. Team Coordination:
- Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including senior administration, finance departments, operations teams, procurement departments, developers, engineers, creative departments, and other stakeholders, to ensure successful project execution.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all team members.
3. Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Monitor and manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.
4. Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders, providing regular updates.
- Address stakeholder concerns and ensure project alignment with organizational goals.
5. Technical Expertise:
- Apply technical knowledge to understand project requirements and effectively communicate with technical teams.
- Collaborate with technical teams to address challenges and ensure project success.
6. Quality Assurance:
- Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation to ensure project deliverables meet specifications.
7. Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and technical documentation.
- Ensure documentation complies with organizational standards.
What do you need to succeed?
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or theater arts; advanced degree is a plus
- 5+ years’ experience
- Hands-on experience with robotics technologies, software development, permanently installed creative technology installations, live theatrical venues and touring experiences.
- Demonstrated knowledge of robotics, show control, displays, lighting, automation, and sound.
- Portfolio of relevant projects in a leadership, management, or producer role
- Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager, managing complex technical projects from initiation to completion in an entertainment or creative setting.
- Strong technical background and understanding of software development, engineering, or related fields applied in a creative or entertainment industry setting.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong desire to work with and identify novel ways to deploy emerging technologies.
- Experience with patent applications is a plus.
Special Requirements
- May require travel to test sites or manufacturing facilities.
- Must be able to work flexible hours during critical production phases.

Pay Range
$139,000—$180,000 USD
