About Etched

Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) only supports transformers, but has an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep chain-of-thought reasoning.

Technical Recruiter

As Etched continues to drive towards production, we recognize the need to expand our team with exceptional talent in order to maintain our competitive edge. We’re looking for a data-driven recruiter to join our team.

You will work closely with Joan (People) and hiring managers to identify, attract, and hire world class talent. You will monitor the recruiting process, making sure the candidate experience for top talent is exceptional. You will look in unconventional places for talent, including AI meetups, authors of preprints, and conference attendees.

Representative projects:

• Own full-cycle recruitment process ensuring high quality pipelines. Forge strong hiring manager relationships and candidate advocacy
• Attend an AI meetup, talk to other attendees, and get the most promising to apply
• Source candidates from sites like GitHub, mailing lists for Apache projects, preprint servers like Arxiv, or well-written technical replies on Twitter
• Facilitate interviews, and hiring decision-making processes with team members, hiring managers, and executive leadership
• Manager offer process in tandem with hiring managers and CEO 
• Seek different ways to improve the recruiting process and candidate experience 

You may be a good fit if you:

• Have 5+ years of technical recruiting experience in a highly competitive industry
• Can evaluate technical aptitude and behavioral fit 
• Find creative ways to attract and forge relationships with top talent 
• Are able to find candidates outside of a normal sourcing methods

How we’re different:

Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.

We are a fully in-person team in Cupertino, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
