Technical Sales Director, Shoulder
Job Description
Role Overview:
The Technical Sales Director, Shoulder works with Commercial Marketing and Sales Management to implement launch and sales execution plans. This role will be a conduit of the execution of launching Limited Market Release for new products, be a key role in Full Market Release, account conversions, and implementing the roadmaps that Commercialization has developed. The Technical Sales Director, Shoulder is key in the development of Associate Shoulder Sales Representatives, 1099 business partners and Shoulder Sales Representatives.
Responsibilities:
- Gains and maintains an acceptable level of knowledge of the assigned Shoulder product line, business objectives, pricing strategies, and proven sales techniques for Shoulder products.
- Establishes, develops, and maintains field contact with key surgeons, customers, clinicians, and researchers.
- Achieves sales quotas for priority Shoulder products within assigned area to achieve market share and profitability objective annually.
- Conducts in-service training programs at hospitals and clinics.
- Establishes, develops, or maintains technical sales support in accounts within assigned area.
- Establishes key relationships with current Key Opinion Leaders in the region.
- Establishes and maintains written and oral communication with both field and internal sales management with attention to sales calls made, follow-up required, market potential and recommendations for new sales, pricing, or promotional strategy.
- Assists in working major national conventions and local/regional meetings as determined by Sales Management.
- Comfortable interacting with surgeons, sales force, and hospital administration in a positive manner that always represents the corporate image and message.
- Excellent communicator in both large and small group settings, ranging from informal discussions to presentations.
- Successfully maintain continuity, focus, and alignment with customers while delivering growth to the business.
Location:
Strong consideration given to candidates that live within the geography of territory
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Product Development, Business Management, Science and Engineering required, MS or MBA preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum seven (7) years' experience in sales, marketing, technical sales support, or sales management in the medical device industry. This should include proven success in achieving sales objectives in a variety of distribution structures and product segments.
- Dynamic, persistent, technical-oriented leadership with well-developed communication skills.
- "Hands on" Training and Technical Support style; adaptable to a fast-paced, high-growth, changing environment.
- Good business sense - an understanding of how marketing ties into the profitability of a company.
- Previous P&L "exposure" or accountability is important.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced, high-growth, changing environment.
- Experienced in OR protocol and surgeon/ hospital staff interaction.
Competences:
- Physical Demands: Requires ability to get to all customers' operations and facilities via air, personal automobile, and local transport.
- Requires the ability to meet deadlines, frequent assignment changes, periodic heavy workload, rapidly changing technology, and dynamic business growth.
- Ability to routinely lift heavy instrument trays and totes around 20 to 30 lbs.
Requires domestic travel 70% of the time. Requires mobility at conventions
