Technical Sales Specialist - Spain (Madrid)

Are you a passionate about genomics? Do you thrive on helping others achieve groundbreaking scientific discoveries? Illumina is looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic Technical Specialist in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Genotyping Arrays. In this role, you will be a key player in advancing genomic research and applications such as transcriptomics, oncology, genetic disease testing, microbiology, agrigenomics, and more. Location: This is a field-based position. The candidate must reside in the Madrid area. The role includes an average travel requirement of 60%. It is essential for the role that the successful candidate has fluent English and Spanish language skills.

Responsibilities
 

  • Technical Expertise: Provide in-depth technical consultations on NGS and array applications, assay design, and data analysis/interpretation to support customer projects and workflows.
  • Customer centric: Act as a trusted advisor to customers both pre- and post-sales, ensuring effective implementation of workflows and solutions.
  • Training and Education: Conduct training sessions for customers and colleagues on NGS applications, arrays, and library preparation workflows. Empower others with the knowledge and skills to harness the power of genomics.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including, but not only, sales, service, support, channel partners and marketing, to ensure comprehensive account management and seamless communication throughout the sales and support cycle.
  • Market Insight: Stay at the forefront of market trends and advancements in genomics. Your expertise will help identify new opportunities and applications for our cutting-edge technologies.
  • Sales Objectives: Actively engage in sales activities and leverage your technical expertise to meet or exceed sales quotas.
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, turning them into long-term partnerships.
  • Professionalism: Represent Illumina with professionalism, adhering to ethical standards and company values at all times.
  • Customer Diversity: This role is diverse, serving customers across various sectors including research, clinical, applied genomics, and service providers. Your ability to understand and address the unique needs of each sector will be critical to your success.

 

Experience/Education;
 

  • Educational Background: PhD highly preferred in Genomics, Life Sciences, Medical, or Health Care disciplines.
  • Technical Experience: Strong background in molecular biology, genomics, NGS, and array technologies.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent in both Spanish and English.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel on average 60%.
  • Customer Facing Role: No prior sales experience is essential, but a willingness to join a customer-facing role and be driven by objectives is required.
  • Residence: Must reside in the Madrid area or within a maximum of one hour's travel distance.
