Technical Service Engineer

Description: 

The Technical Service Engineer will provide technical service support for various PP Market Segments by working closely with the account managers to develop and maintain customer relationships, awareness of market trends and dynamics, and understanding the customer’s needs: translating into product requirements, new products, and increased sales opportunities, understanding customer’s products and processes, support of strategic plant runs, verification of new technology (customer trials and sample follow up), understanding product capabilities, relationships with industry groups and trade associations, attending conferences and shows relevant to the market segment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Provide differentiated client support by:

• Understanding client needs and translating them into product requirements.
• Understanding and selling the value of Braskem products.
• Troubleshooting product and processing issues.
• Providing support at client trials.
• Partner with account managers to develop, maintain and enrich client relationships.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Innovation & Technology, Supply Chain, Product Management, etc.) in a team environment to provide clients with creative solutions.
• Understand market trends and utilize technical expertise to enhance commercial strategies.
• Support Braskem manufacturing trials as needed.
• Support new product development platforms.
• Develop and maintain relationships with industry associations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Polymer Science with 5-10 years of experience in a technical service role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication as well as computer skills.
• Be self-motivated, responsive, and proactive.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to interact with internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Ability to define problems, identify opportunities and develop creative solutions.
• The incumbent must be team and results-oriented, with the ability to implement and ensure the success of new technology improvements.
• Must be currently eligible to work in the United States without the need for any type of sponsorship.

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:

• Experience in polymers, preferably polypropylene and polyethylene, and technical service.  
• Expertise in polymer conversion processes such as injection molding, thermoforming, or extrusion preferred. 
• Previous history with ASTM testing specifications and engineering part design beneficial.
