Summary:

The Technical Services Engineer โ€“ PRS is a critical link between the pressure reduction system (PRS) equipment platform that Certarus utilizes to support customers and our sales, engineering, HSE, maintenance, and field operations teams. This role is part of the Engineering team and will make an impact to Certarus's growth and innovation strategy. The position reports to the Technical Services Engineering Manager โ€“ PRS and is based primarily in our Fort Lupton, Colorado location with travel to Canada and US field locations.

Schedule:

  • This position holds normal business hours.
  • Travel to shop and field locations in both Canada and the USA will be required on an as needed basis.
  • We support a hybrid work environment consisting of flexible remote and in-person collaboration at our corporate offices and field locations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide field support and guidance for PRS technical issues and HSE-related issues that require urgent and immediate attention:
    • At Certarus hub locations
    • At customer sites
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on failures as documented via critical service interruptions (CSI) to determine cause and develop corrective actions.
  • Monitor fleet health for one-off vs. systemic issues and develop action plans to address.
  • Advance the automation and digitization of the PRS platform for improved reliability, data management and visibility, and remote operation.
  • Support efforts to move away from reactive and planned maintenance to a predictive maintenance model driven by the use of machine learning and participate in theย development of predictive maintenance programs through data and experience.
  • Drive management of change (MOC) initiatives across the fleet, including planning, execution, and execution support.
  • Support new component testing in conjunction with the equipment engineering team (data monitoring, etc.)
  • Support flow testing (field commissioning) of new and retrofitted units โ€“ may also extend to testing at the vendor facility prior to delivery as required.
  • Communicate observations, trends, issues, actions back to the equipment engineering team to ensure that future PRS designs address these points.
  • Collaborate with the equipment engineering team on new PRS designs.
  • Support the development and implementation of design and engineering standards, including the creation of tools and processes to standardize or simplify day-to-day work and improve consistency.
  • Work with training team on curriculum development; act as on-site trainers when at locations as required.
  • Collaborate with HSE and field operations teams on the development of standardized work procedures (SWP)
  • Promote and drive a proactive and positive HSE culture within Certarus.

Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering (preference for mechanical degree.)
  • 2+ yearsโ€™ experience in a technical role within an industrial hands-on environment, with oilfield experience being an asset.
  • Experience with data analysis, root cause analysis, electrical, controls, piping systems, and compressed gases is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31.3, Canadian Electrical Code, and National Electrical Code is an asset.
  • Demonstrated success in fast-paced cultures.
  • Excellent organizational & communication skills.
  • Aptitude and desire for hands-on work combined with strong analytical skills.
  • A self-starter with relentless habits in-line with Certarus core values.
  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada or the US.
