Job Description

Cricut is looking for a highly motivated and inspirational hands-on Software Engineering Manager and leader with excellent qualifications to join our Software Machine team. You will work in a fast-paced environment, delivering world-class products that delight our customers and help the business grow. You are expected to be hands on and in the details in all phases of development including planning, execution, and release. You’ll work to identify areas of improvement in the code base and help contribute to make it better – your input matters! You live for the best customer experience, are passionate about building great software and care deeply about building and strengthening a great engineer team and culture.

Responsibilities

· A Technical Software Manager (Machines) that will code 30% of the time.

· Collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to develop and maintain machine communication with software.

· Lead discussions on architectural best practices, advice on cross-platform development best practices.

· Evangelize engineering principles internally and externally.

· Work with product managers and team leads on work-breakdown, estimates and schedules.

· Apply best software engineering design patterns to develop well-structured, modular, performant application code.

· Ensure best coding practices, perform code reviews, and provide guidance to implementation teams.

· Training, mentorship, and development of team members.

· Lead Agile/Scrum development.

Qualifications

· B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science.

· 10+ years related experience in building and bringing successful consumer products to market.

· Proficiency in C/C++, Swift, Kotlin, and Dart.

· Experience in cross-platform development - Android, iOS, Windows, macOS.

· Expertise in USB, Bluetooth (Classic/BLE), and Wi-Fi

· Experience in communication protocols between software and hardware.

· Experience in public-key cryptography.

· A solid grasp of fundamental algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.

· Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills.

· Knowledge of agile quality and testing methods preferred (BDD, TDD, Unit Testing and Automation).

· Experience in continuous delivery and integration.

· Excited and experienced working with a team to achieve a common goal.

· Actively listen to and support teammates and embrace different ways of thinking.

· Curious about emerging technologies and can quickly evaluate and adapt to new technologies.

· High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.

· Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical multi-functional teams.
