Technical Specialist (Entry-Level)

Job Description

Emerson has an exciting opportunity in Houston, TX for a Technical Specialist to join their team! You will provide technical services, maintain client relationships, and equipment maintenance support for the Rosemount Tank Gauging System products in North America. You will be the technical expert for Emerson's world-leading tank inventory management systems.

As a Technical Specialist, you will:

• Perform field service commissioning and repair of products, including startup, programming, troubleshooting, calibration, and failure analysis.
• Handle technical phone/email support to the technical staff and customers.
• Provide product customer training.
• Coordinate and make travel arrangements with customers, both domestic and international.
• Provide and write detailed technical reports.
• Be responsible to respond to and address callouts and emergencies.
• Need to have the ability to work with a team, take supervisor direction, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work and safety rules.

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

• Education: Technical degree in Electronics (AAS, BSEE) or equivalent military experience
• Proficient with electronic test instruments and communication/interface modems
• Knowledge and experience reading and interpreting electrical diagrams
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel & Word
• Ability to climb frequently and work from elevated storage tanks, ladders, stairwells, and walkways up to 150 ft, and lift travel cases to 50 lbs. etc.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
• TWIC certification for entry into secure port facilities
• Ability to maintain a passport for international service travel
• Must have a good understanding of computer networking
• PLC programming experience would be an asset
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Flexible Work Schedule - Remote Work Option

For the office work portion of this role, a work-from-home option will be flexible when the job tasks and schedule allow for it, according to current Emerson work-from-home practices. Our teams work together to ensure our work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.
