Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of cutting-edge object detection and 6D pose estimation systems utilizing AI algorithms, sensor technologies, and other relevant methodologies.
• Lead the Integration and optimization of sensor technologies (Stereo and structured light) to enhance the accuracy and robustness of localization systems.
• Lead the technical review and maintain the relationships with university or industrial partners to jointly conduct the research and development.
• Demonstrate sustained innovation and creativity leading to project accomplishments without direct technical supervision
• Stay on top of technology trends in robotic vision & tactile perception domains to drive innovation.
• Responsible for setting the technical direction and providing innovative ideas in technology and product development and evaluation.
• Maintain and implement the short and long-term development and technology roadmap.
• Determine the product specification for building a new technology, functionality, or product.
• Support the development of innovative technologies and manufacturing systems from the initial concept phase through the complete development process including design engineering, validation, prototyping, and industrialization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, testing Engineers, AI engineers and hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration and functionality of the localization systems.
• Perform any other assignments, from time-to-time, as management directs.

Key Qualifications/Requirements
Education and Knowledge:

• Ph.D. or Masters of Science degree in Computer Engineering/Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics
• Deep knowledge of Deep/Machine Learning
• Proficiency in computer vision, 3D sensing, and/or image processing
• Familiarity with sensor technologies (2D & 3D cameras) and their integration in localization system

Work Experience:

• 4+ years of working experience in applied research related to object detection and 6D Pose Estimation using AI, sensing technologies, or deep learning/machine learning
• Design and development of cutting-edge localization systems utilizing AI algorithms, sensor technologies, and other relevant methodologies are a plus.
• Experience in acquiring and processing multimodal sensor data (computer vision, tactile, proprioceptive)
• Demonstrated ability to apply extensive and advanced principles, theories, and concepts to the development of solutions to complex problems that require innovation and ingenuity.
• Demonstrated ability to recognize new science and technologies relevant to existing trends and business strategies and extend them into new applications.
• Cloud-computing experience is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent technical communication skills and ability to make a case with data
• Proficiency in ROS, Python and C++ development.
• Proficiency in Pytorch and TensorFlow.
• Proficiency in data acquisition and the debugging of hardware-software systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Additional Information
Work Environment:

• Responsible for working in compliance with the provisions of the Health and Safety Act as well as any rules or standards otherwise specified by OSHA or MIOSHA or any other government regulations. Expected to exercise caution in all work activities and report any unsafe conditions, injuries, or near misses to the appropriate supervisor.
• Domestic and international travel will be required up to 10% of the time.
