Technical Support Lead

Basic Function
This position is for a Technical Support Lead role in the Enterprise Servers & Storage Operations group reporting into the Operational Platforms organization. The primary role of this position is to lead the Operations team for enterprise servers and storage globally. Managing day to day operations of the team of six (6) engineers for server deployment, patching, troubleshooting, evaluating, installing, and implementing virtualization, cloud, and compute technologies while providing ongoing management for existing IT compute infrastructure and cloud systems. The position works closely with the other infrastructure groups, as well as the application teams to develop, maintain, and improve the compute infrastructure (on-prem and cloud based) of the company. This position requires a broad range of knowledge across multiple IT disciplines.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage team of six engineers including major work assignments, scheduled maintenance activities, weekly meetings, performance reviews, and datacenter activities.
- Management of compute maintenance activities including patch management planning and execution.
- Management of compute lifecycle management and hardware platform selection.
- Technical lead and coordinator with datacenter vendors and major solution providers on hardware, software, and services.
- Lead compliance and audit reviews for compute infrastructure, including security vulnerability remediation.
- Provides coaching and guidance to Operations engineers and mentors less experienced staff members.
- Leads efforts for estimating project costs and prepares project plans
- Oversee incident, change, and problem management tickets for prioritization and guidance for proper closure.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of complex issues that cross multiple technical domains, applying core knowledge and troubleshooting to lead group to resolution.
- Maintain the company's compute infrastructure documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures).
- Adhere to LyondellBasell's compute infrastructure (physical, virtual, and cloud) design.
- After-hours / weekend work as required.
- Participate in a global on-call as escalation point.
Min. Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Computer Science or MIS preferred, or 10+ years' equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years leadingmanaging team resources.
- 5-7 years' experience managing VMware ESXi, vCenter environments.
- 5-7 years' experience with Microsoft server technologies.
- 5-7 years in a serverinfrastructure administration role.
- Experience managing datacenters.
- Experience with HPE ProLiant server and blade hardware.
- Experience with enterprise SAN storage.
- Experience with patch management systems for Microsoft based systems.
- Experience with backup infrastructure technologies and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- VMware Certified Professional preferred.
- Hands on experience with PrivatePublic cloud technologies preferred.
