Technical Support Specialist

As a Technical Support Specialist at Flow Traders, you will manage the troubleshooting, maintenance and uptime of our office-based IT systems, including our servers, workstations, ThinClients and virtual machines, in addition to laptops, TVs and printers. A typical day for a Technical Support Specialist starts with a routine check of all office IT infrastructure via our monitoring systems and a scan for any issues reported in our support chats. Throughout the day, your primary focus is on resolving issues, while also working on process improvement related tasks or projects to continuously enhance our environment. As our New York office continues to grow, you will oversee all IT procurement and inventory management to ensure proper equipment needs are fulfilled, while working with HR & Office Management to welcome new hires and move or set up new employee workstations. 

Whether the contributions are in supporting and improving our IT infrastructure or procuring, tracking and documenting our technology systems, the successful Technical Support Specialist at Flow Traders will be highly self-motivated, have strong attention to detail, and a customer service mindset.

What You Will Do:

• Provide superior, first level IT support in a fast-paced trading environment
• Be the first point of contact for any IT support related issues 
• Manage and maintain a stable and performant office IT infrastructure
• Manage and monitor IT Support chat requests with proper follow up in troubleshooting, resolving or escalating to the subject matter experts where necessary
• Oversee all IT procurement and inventory management needs
• Work closely with other Technology teams to ensure reliability and scalability of our infrastructure

What You Need to Succeed:

• 2+ years hands on working experience in IT support
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or comparable work experience and certifications
• Experience working in a hybrid Windows and Linux (Debian, CentOS) environment
• VMware, VDI and networking experience is a plus
• Experience with Active Directory, LDAP and Kerberos is a plus
• First contacts with scripting skills in Python or Bash and exposure to configuration management tools (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, CFEngine) a plus
• Attention-to-detail, self-starter, highly organized, methodical and strong communicator (inc. English fluency)
• Customer service mindset with a strong sense of ownership, good time management and prioritization skills
