Technical Support Specialist

Location: Roanoke/Salem, VA - local candidates required
Position Type: Onsite
Contract Length: 8 months with extension likely for 6-12+ months
Position Overview:
The Technical Support Specialist will provide daily on-site support (M-F, 8-5pm) for end users. The role focuses on assisting field staff with new technology, troubleshooting devices, and offering innovative solutions. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required, as the position involves driving a state vehicle. Experience with Microsoft Desktop products including but not limited to Windows, SharePoint, MS Office Suite and MS Teams is required.
Duties:
Manage and administer desktop and laptop computers as well as wireless devices.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with individuals and groups.
Work with help request tracking and reporting tools.
Provide end-user support by troubleshooting and escalating issues to resolve concerns in a timely manner.
Required Skills:

• 5 years of experience with Microsoft Desktop products including but not limited to Windows, SharePoint, MS Office, Office 365 and MS Teams
• 5 years of experience with troubleshooting tools and managing desktop and laptop computers as well as wireless devices
• 5 years of experience with communicating effectively verbally and in writing with individuals and groups
• 5 years of experience working with help desk request tracking and reporting tools
• 5 years of experience with providing strong customer service that include a "customer first" attitude

Preferred Skills:

• Provide computer training for field staff
• Knowledge of computer/mobile device applications and how they operate in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with creating training documentation.
