Job Description

NISC is looking for a passionate experienced Technical Systems Engineer to add to our internal network team. This Technical Systems Engineer will design, implement, maintain, and support our growing server and software infrastructure. You will be part of the internal system team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet NISC’s critical business objectives. This position will work closely with our internal tech teams and support staff in order to identify potential issues and fix existing problems. 


Work Schedule: 

  • Hybrid from one of our office location: Lake Saint Louis, MO
  • Requirement: Minimum of working 1 day per week out of an office location and ability to work up to all 5 days a week from an office location.

Essential Duties:  

  • Code and script system toolsets that streamline implementation processes and create efficiencies across the enterprise
  • Perform research of general technical problems, resolve issues, and verify changes or enhancements 
  • Provide superior customer support to all internal teams
  • Contribute to design enhancements, perform complex maintenance and support of web-based DevOps software application on Linux servers
  • Perform complex maintenance, support, and enhance software deployment workflows.
  • Perform complex maintenance, support and enhance related database maintenance workflows.
  • Perform complex maintenance, support and enhance workflows for those teams performing installation, configuration, and upgrades in support of NISC applications 
  • Create and analyze service center incidents and follow up on resolution.
  • Contribute to design enhancements, perform complex maintenance associated with the collection and presentation of system metrics for performance and business intelligence purposes. 
  • Perform complex maintenance and support and enhance application configuration workflows
  • Serve as secondary support to those teams who provide system administration of all NISC supported servers
  • Develop and deliver training
  • Contribute to design enhancements, perform complex maintenance and support application state control workflows. 
  • Contribute to design enhancements, perform complex maintenance and support of software bundling and distribution workflows
  • Serve as a mentor to the team in the technical applications and processes
  • Serve as “go-to” person for the team
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred: 

  • 8+ years of experience preferred.
  • Advanced level knowledge of Linux operating system
  • Advanced level knowledge of Windows OS, Active Directory
  • Advanced level knowledge of VMware vSphere.
  • Working level knowledge of setup and support of TCP/IP networks
  • Working level knowledge of business-related software applications and services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Backup/DR solutions
  • Strong presentation and training skills
  • Excellent communication etiquette and an ability to deal effectively with employees and vendors
  • Superior research and problem-solving skills with an excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to organizer and prioritize.
  • Strong ability to interact in a positive manner with internal and external contacts.
  • Strong ability to demonstrate professionalism.

Education Preferred: 

 

Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience. 

 

Other Qualifications/Certifications Preferred: 

Industry recognized certification such as CompTIA Linux+, MCSA/MCSE, VMware vSphere.
