What youâll be doing:Â
Â
Our Technical Underwriting team is a point of referral for risks outside of underwriting authority or appetite and sets and maintains underwriting standards. You will collaborate with Divisional Leadership and Underwriters, to support underwriting profitability targets for Markelâs continuous growth. By reviewing and updating underwriting standards, you will offer technical guidance and embedding of appetite and changes to the process for our underwriting teams. Youâll provide updates to senior leadership committees and support the growth of high-performing classes through our Underwriting Initiative Framework. Staying ahead of emerging risks and market trends, youâll foster innovation and maintain a disciplined underwriting appetite, while enhancing technical knowledge within our product lines.Â

Broad underwriting/insurance background - knowledge of insurance compliance and regulatory constraints Â

Underwriting experience in either an insurance carrier, an MGA, or a broker-based business

Strong interpersonal and people leadership skills, ability to drive consensusÂ

Project management methodology capabilityÂ

Strong analytical and interpretation skillsÂ

A track record in demonstrable ownership and deliveryÂ
