Technical Writer

Do you love translating complex technical documentation into material that end users can understand? Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with engineers to produce clear and concise technical documentation for multiple products.
• Review, copy-edit, rewrite, and reformat new and existing product documentation to make sure it can be easily understood.
• Take initiative to improve documentation and processes.
• Work with writing tools such as Madcap Flare, Sphinx, and Doxygen; use Git as a source-control system; interact with other build and automation tools to help test and package documentation.
• Work with a small team of technical writers who are as passionate about clarity and thoroughness as you are.
• Engage bravely with complex and technical topics.
• Future potential in taking on some people and team management responsibility.

Requirements:

• Proven excellence in writing and technical editing. Passion for usability, including that "instructional design" encompasses more than just user's manuals but user interface prompts, error messages, support/portal websites (where needed), and layout/design.
• Experience in clarifying technical concepts (converting engineer-centric writing to plainer English), writing to your audience, and working with engineers to suss out user-friendly information (engaging in heavily collaborative writing).
• Experience in multiple writing formats and tools (markdown, XML-based word processing tools, etc.). Some knowledge of archival / source control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket).
• Ability to independently manage workload and priorities. 
• Bonus if you have previous experience in people and team management.
