Technical Writer
Job Description
Piedmont Aviation Component Services (a subsidiary of TAT Technologies) is currently seeking a Technical Writer. The Technical Writer will be responsible for the on-site support of the Piedmont Aviation projects. This position will contribute to the efficiency of our business by providing personalized and timely support to leadership members, project contributors, and all relevant stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Writes and edits other writer's technical documents/manuals according to customer specifications.
- Drafts text materials to ensure text and illustrations are completed and coordinated per final product requirements.
- Documents and archives technical data over long periods in an efficient, established method to aid in future related projects.
- Write, format, edit, review, and proof procedural and technical information for technical and nontechnical users.
- Gathers information from SMEs, breaks complex processes into straightforward steps and ensures that procedures/documents contain the appropriate level of detail and instruction commensurate with the activity.
- Ensure that technical information and parameters contained within operating procedures, work instructions and related forms match those parameters identified in associated validations and/or verifications.
- Ensure that the information contained in procedures corresponds with the information on related documentation such as forms, inspection records, etc. including the appropriate
Requirements
- Mastery level in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including the use of technical document creation, manipulation, and formatting.
- Excellent grammatical skills using the English language to explain technical information, sentence formatting, punctuality, and descriptions.
- Excellent information-gathering skills to attain the required material or source data from the necessary individuals or team members.
- Strong analytical skills to seek the necessary solution when faced with any problem.
- Strong technical skills to critically evaluate technical drawings, information, dimensional data, blueprints, and technical verbiage.
- Great communication skills to speak to the required team members while retaining the necessary information.
- Excellent listening skills while allowing critical feedback to make corrective changes.
- Strong understanding of technologies usage including Windows OS usage, file explorer/management, Adobe, and PDFs.
- Good understanding of general Quality Control Practices including document control, manual usage, revision control, and auditing standards.
- Excellent visual and ergonomic skills to clearly show and describe the required information in the most efficient manner while maintaining the highest quality possible that makes sense to the reader even at basic reading levels.
