Technical Writer in Redwood City, CA

We're looking for a Technical Writer candidate with experience in creating effective product documentation, videos, and tutorials, to join our team in Redwood City, CA ( Hybrid)

You will report to the Manager, Documentation

You will work closely with a globally distributed team of software engineers, UX designers, product managers, and doc team members to create great user-facing content.

Technology You'll Use

• DITA, XmetaL/Oxygen, content management systems, source control systems, Jira, and Confluence

Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do

• Write helpful user-facing technical content that describes product functionality and use cases
• Develop tutorials to improve the first user experience
• Work with stakeholders to deliver meaningful in-product assistance, messages, and develop clear terminology
• Contribute how-to articles, knowledge base articles, videos, and other useful content
• Edit own work for completeness, style, and accuracy
• Compile, publish, and verify content
• Contribute to documentation team processes
• Create project plans, maintain schedules for specific projects, and communicate documentation status to documentation manager or lead
• Collaborate on projects with other technical writers

What we would like see

• Knowledge of relational and/or No SQL database concepts, cloud concepts
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Experience with DITA, XmetaL/Oxygen, content management systems, source control systems, Jira, and Confluence
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, video software, e-learning software, and/or WalkMe/Pendo

Role Essentials

• BA/MA/BS/MS or equivalent (engineering, technical communications, humanities, social sciences) preferred
• 1+ years of relevant professional experience

• Able to communicate clearly and consistently with stakeholders on status and priorities
• Follow schedules
• Able to understand customer requirements and incorporate them into the documentation
• Accuracy and own and act on quality problems
• BA/BS or equivalent educational background, we will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
