What You Will Do:
The Candidate will support the strategic and operational needs of a Defense and Security client and will support high-profile initiatives. The role will require frequent in-person interaction with senior military and government leaders.
The Candidate must be able to confidently interact with senior military and government leaders and must be able to develop, review, write, and edit defense-related material for quick-turn executive and technical reports, manuals, briefs, technical specifications, instruction books, catalogues, and related technical and administrative publications for internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate has prior experience as a technical writer for military organizations and is familiar with military systems including radars, launchers, rockets/missiles, or other similar systems.
This role will:
- Review technical reports created by others and review/edit for technical accuracy and completeness. This will require an understanding of the individual product systems to identify factual or content inconsistencies.
- Work with others to develop, write, review, and edit briefings and documents to be delivered to higher military elements, congress, and other external stakeholders.
- Perform other technical writing duties as assigned.
- Deliver high-quality client service and products in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.
- Develop trusted relationships with clients and team members.
What You Will Need:
- The ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
- A BS degree with a minimum of 5-7 years' experience with proficiency in technical writing.
- Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Be analytical and can understand complex systems and processes.
- Project Management: Be skilled in project management and can coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. They should be able to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Problem-Solving: Have strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve program integration issues. They must be able to think critically and creatively to find solutions to complex problems.
- Adaptability: Be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment. They must be open to change and willing to learn new technologies and processes.
- Teamwork: Be team players and able to collaborate effectively with other team members.
What Would Be Nice to Have:
Experience Preferred:
- Proficiency in technical writing of military products, systems, and organizations; with demonstrated experience editing, proofreading, and drafting technical and program documents.
- Experience working with the Department of Defense, specifically the Army.
- Experience executing change management strategies.
- Experience in Management Consulting
- Experience working within and for an acquisitions-based government organization that specializes in radars, launchers, missiles/rockets, combined with a military technical writing background.
- Thorough understanding of Army Acquisition process.
- Prior experience successfully producing products for congressional review.
- Ability to effectively engage and interact with senior-level clients.
- Ability to identify and address client needs and deliver quality results in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Exudes professionalism, is flexible, and has a positive attitude.
Education/Certifications Preferred:
- Master's degree in business, engineering, or related field
