Technical Writer
Job Description
The Technical Writer will work with various lines of business to identify, author, review, edit and publish procedural content within Desert Financial's knowledge management application. This specialist will work closely with management and subject matter experts to ensure procedural content needed to provide exceptional service to members and internal customers is maintained with a high level of accuracy, usability, and completeness. The incumbent will also assist in identifying opportunities to enhance the product to align with strategic goals. This specialist will also conduct routine audits to ensure department procedures are kept up to update, also recommending what content goes into the system, how it is documented, who has the ability to see the content, and how it is used. The Technical Writer will act as the primary system admin which consists of managing roles and user access, creating new workflows, and ensuring all authors, editors, and users are kept up to date on system enhancements.
What you will do here:
Author, review, edit, and publish procedural and informational content.
Establish periodic audits and reviews with lines of business owners to ensure content remains current and enables users to serve members efficiently.
Lead efforts to onboard new departments to knowledge management system.
Train employees identified as authors/editors.
Work with subject matter experts to obtain process details and conduct process mapping sessions.
Assist with reviewing and implementing knowledge management system product releases and enhancements.
Serve as primary system admin.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
What you will need:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred.
1+ years Technical Writing preferred.
1+ years Financial Institution experience required.
Ability to work with Subject Matter Experts to obtain process details preferred.
Ability to understand and interpret business processes and translate them into policy and procedure content required.
Strong editing and proofreading skills required.
Familiarity with Microsoft Writing Style and/or Chicago Manual of Style required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Work, Excel, Visio, etc.) required.
