Technical Writer

Overview

Hexagon's Autonomy and Positioning division is looking for a Technical Writer to join our global engineering and manufacturing company in satellite positioning and autonomous technology. Come do cool stuff that matters as a key player in our talented marketing team! You will create clear, consistent customer facing technical documentation to help our customers build the autonomous future. You are ambitious, take pride in your work, and are motivated to make a difference in our close-knit, collaborative, and dynamic environment.

The Location: This position is office based in Morton, Illionois or Perth, Australia. We offer a hybrid work environment. For the right person, we will consider home-based in the Midwest United States or Western Australia.

Responsibilities

As our Technical Writer, responsibilities include:

• Develop a robust knowledge of key Hexagon A&P autonomous and positioning products/services
• Work closely with our Product Managers and Marketing and Engineering teams to create technical documentation
• Gather information from various teams to structure, create and provide excellent end user documentation such as product sheets, integration and start up guides, brochures, and internal material
• Keep up to date on new technology trends, tools, processes and writing practices while assisting the team in improving our procedures and processes

Qualifications

Must-Have:

• University degree or College diploma in Journalism/English/Technical-Writing and/or related technology experience
• Excellent written communication & organization skills
• Willingness to continuously learn and engage with new technology, tools, processes and writing practices

• Passion for delivering exceptional documentation
• Goal-oriented and motivated to achieve results
• Strong interpersonal skills that enable collaboration
• Excellent time management with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work independently

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with positioning or autonomous systems
• Background working with MadCap Flare
• Knowledge of Docs as Code methodologies and usage of version control systems (Git or equivalent)
• Familiarity with Adobe or Affinity creative suites
