Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer to perform staff level technical writing functions in support of PD TMDE's life cycle mission. Duties include activities necessary to support PD TMDE in implementing effective product support, which includes planning and developing technical bulletins for PD TMDE supported products. Incumbent, under the leadership and guidance of the Program Officers, will support the following technical writing requirements and activities:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and staff various technical documents:
  • Technical bulletins (TB)
  • White papers
  • Assist in training development
  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical correspondence
  • Ensure maintenance publications support required maintenance actions.
  • Schedule, plan, and support technical events to include:
  • Various Integrated Product Teams (IPT)s
  • Various Working Integrated Products Teams (WIPT)s
  • TB Dynamic Evaluation (DE)
  • TB Verification
  • Logistics Demonstrations (LOGDEMO)
  • Manual reviews
  • Assist the Calsets Program Officer and the PD TMDE, TEMOD/Calsets publication team in development and execution of various product support assessments and analysis.
  • Assess OEM manual/automated calibration/adjustment procedures
  • Pre-production hardware analysis
  • OEM calibration software analysis
  • TMDE Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Others to be identified
  • Provide bi-annual progress reports at six months and twelve months from start of work.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree and a minimum of 5 years of technical writing experience, 4 years in a leadership position and 10 years in TMDE maintenance (94H MOS or equivalent).
  • Calibration procedure writing and 15 years' experience in TMDE maintenance and 6 years of technical writing experience desired.
  • Existing SECRET security clearance highly desired or ability to obtain security clearance; ability to work independently; excellent communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of requirements outlined in writer's guide is desired.
  • Adept at translating OEM manual specifications into Army TB's is desired.
  • Work with OEM to convert calibration software procedure/adjustments into Army automated TB's is desired.
  • Understanding of Army operations, task organizations, and unit structures is required. Army background is preferred. US Army service is desired. TMDE maintenance structure experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Power Point is required. Experience in the use of Visio, C#, HTML and Java Script is preferred.
