NOV Rig Technologies - Aftermarket is currently recruiting for a Technical Writer to join our team at 5200 N Sam Houston Pkwy W, the main responsibilities of this role include:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research technical data and develop procedures through interviews, on-site visits and production observations.
• Organize and research available data, write technical manuscripts from the data including procedures and parts lists.
• Determine illustration needs and recommend content to illustrators.
• Assist in proofing and editing technical publications of other writers for conformance to style and format.
• Meet with other writers to determine project assignments and report project status.
• Schedule and conduct review meetings for approval of new or revised publications before final version is released.
• Assist in the development and revision of style guides that meet the specific needs of NOV products.
• Perform other work related tasks as assigned.
• Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Results Areas;

• Standardize Aftermarket service documentation to promote identical provisions of NOV service globally.
• Communicating with all repair centers, service groups and engineering, agree on standardized documentation for assessment, inspection, commissioning and test of equipment, both in the field and in the repair center.
• Ensure all documentation follows industry standards/compliance as well as design/wear criteria.
• Make all users aware of where the information is located and the best methods of using the documentation system.

Key Responsibilities;

• Liaise with other technical support staff/engineering departments to understand all necessary aspects required in documentation for each piece of equipment.
• Liaise with Quality Management and refer to Industry Standards to ensure the capture of critical and regulatory information.
• Ensure project stakeholders agree with the steps taken to make the process as lean as possible.
• Highlight any problematic issues/areas of conflict in documentation.
• Where possible, use continuous improvement techniques to eradicate waste in current processes.
• Ensure document control is in place for all released items.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

• Required - Experience in writing technical documents/manuals/procedures.
• Required - BS degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent degree with technical documents/manuals/procedures writing experience.
• Position is onsite located at 5200 N Sam Houston Pkwy., Houston, TX 77086.
• Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, with hands on equipment experience (preferred)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to understand and interpret engineering documents and drawings (essential)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (essential)
• Experience in quality management system/document control (preferred)
