Technical Writer

UX Technical Writing at Couchbase is a crucial component of the product experience. As a UX technical writer,  you'll work with our global team to deliver clear UI copy that helps our customers succeed with Capella, our cloud offering. Working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll experience the immediate and direct impact of your contributions through frequent (monthly) releases to our rapidly growing base of global customers in database management software.

We’re seeking an entry-level UX writer with an aptitude for technology and a passion for making difficult things easier. If you are skilled at developing content for both beginners and advanced users, have top-notch technical skills, and are eager to find innovative ways to collaborate with your teams, we’d love to have you on our team! 

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Content Design Lead:

• Write, edit, and iterate UX copy and technical documentation adhering to Couchbase brand and style guidelines.
• Collaborate with and provide design feedback to  the Product Management and UX Design team.
• Advocate for end users, ensuring their needs are met alongside product and business goals
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of standards and guidelines; drive adoption
• Review and provide constructive feedback on documentation nd UI Copy developed by other team members.
• Work within our agile development model to provide content before designs are handed off to engineering.

What You Need To Succeed

Must haves

• An undergraduate degree in Literature/English, Psychology, Design, Linguistics, Journalism, HCI, or a related field and/or equivalent experience
• 1-2 years of experience in UX writing, content design, technical writing, or a similar role
• A portfolio that showcases your work, with an emphasis on digital experiences
• Full professional fluency in American English
• Basic understanding of how to apply copy and content design to the customer lifecycle (awareness, consideration, conversion, use, retention, advocacy)
  

Nice to haves

• Experience with Figma, Jira, Confluence, Github, Pendo
• Basic understanding of databases and Cloud deployments
