Technical Writer and Editor

Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Technical Writer and Editor for our North Charleston, SC location. This is a remote role that requires 25% travel.

The Technical Writer:

• will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and organizing information required for preparation of technical/programmatic documents, guides, demo briefs, and reports.
• will be expected to collaborate, remotely and onsite, with Engineering, Testing, Cybersecurity, and Logistics subject matter experts to assist in the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents. Example documentation includes Solution Architecture and CONOPs, Technical Designs, Detailed Configurations, Solution Components, Operations Guides, Functional Test Plans, Implementation Plans, Data Architecture, and Test Procedures and Reports. (Prior to finalizing the developmental documentation, the Tech Writer must solicit feedback from the internal team and external fielding teams to ensure accuracy).
• Will adjudicate comments received and prepare a final working document in MS Word and PDF for obtaining signatures.
• Will maintain documentation within a document repository and will ensure templates have the most current identification of classification, distribution statements, logos, and the like.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree and six (6) years or more of related experience
• Experience coordinating content creation across multiple documents continuously with competing deadlines
• Experience performing quality reviews and peer reviews across technical and nontechnical documents
• Experience evaluating document quality based on accuracy, substance, and quality of written content
• Experience creating narrative content for proposal sections and other assignments from scratch based off graphics and/or using "SME interviews" to author prose and validate it with technical system engineers, architects, and other SMEs
• Experience in the entire life cycle of documentation
• Experience in condensing and decompressing information from a variety of source materials
• Demonstrable proficiency in multiple word processing and presentation tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
• Experienced in the utilization of documentation management tools such as SharePoint and MS Teams
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a secret security clearance

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Experience supporting Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC), the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, or the United States Marine Corps Systems Command
• Experience writing clear, persuasive, compliant, and compelling proposal sections/volumes.
• Experience in the telecommunications field

Target salary range: $75,001 - $100,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
