Technical Writer, fully remote (f/*/m)
Job Description
Location: No location restrictions, we hire remotely worldwide π
Hours: 40 hours per week for full-time, you're free to choose your own hours as long as there's some overlap during the daytime of our CET team for meetings and other culture events
Part-time options: We'll consider part-time options for this role, mention what you're looking for in your application
Salary: Starting at β¬52,750 β β¬67,250 for full-time.
Note: We've defined a salary range for this role based on the level of initiative and experience we're looking for. This isn't the βlimitβ and there's room for you to grow at Frontastic.
Do you love to write about technology and are curious about how things work? Do you have experience with frontend technologies like React, Next.js, and cloud functions? Do you want to work closely with the developer community and both learn and explain how to build high-performance websites using our leading Composable Frontend Platform? We're hiring a Technical Writer that'll be a key player when making Frontastic's developer experience best in class.
- Be accountable for the technical product documentation, including tutorials, references, and API specifications
- Work closely with the product development teams to help developers learn and make the most out of Frontastic
- Document features, writing guides, and best practices on how to build performant and flexible frontends using Next.js and integrations using JavaScript
- Create code examples that illustrate how developers can be more successful
- Align closely with product managers, product designers, and engineers to proactively create documentation that enables developers to comprehend both new features and existing capabilities
- Coordinate and work with the Product team to ensure all documentation is ready for publishing at the time of new product releases
- Act as a champion for our documentation, organizing our process, contributing and following our content style guide
- Engage with the developer community to increase awareness of Frontastic and learn how we can build a better product

- Take the time to meet your Frontastic colleagues and engage in our onboarding activities and values
- Dive deep into the Frontastic product and our positioning with the product and development teams
- Talk to developers
- Get to know our documentation processes and tools
- Write and publish your first articles for docs.frontastic.cloud
- Start working on a plan for how to take our developer documentation to the next level
- 2 or more years of proven experience writing about technical topics, whether this be blog posts, specs, or formal employment as a Technical Writer
- Experience in structuring your writing practice by maintaining processes and supporting tools, working with team members, and focusing on lean, modular docs
- Knowledge of frontend technologies and the JAM stack
- Ability to convey complex technical concepts in a concise way
- Motivation to keep track of a large documentation base and ensure its ongoing quality
- Passion for working closely with developers and other technical contributors
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (preferably US-English)
- React (plain and TypeScript) and Next.js in the frontend
- MaterialUI, SCSS, and Tailwind
- PHP with Symfony and Node.js in the backend
- MySQL and CouchDB as databases

6οΈβ£ You'll then be invited to a short asynchronous scenario, where you'll showcase your editing and technical writing skills for us
7οΈβ£ Stakeholder Lunch (30min) an informal chat with members of the team to get to know who you'll be working with
