Job Description
Cognosante is seeking to fill a in support of the Military Technical Writer/Graphic Designer Health System's (MHS), Defense Health Agency's (DHA) Communications Division. Specifically, the position will support a Defense Health Agency contract that is tasked with developing, maintaining, and executing a complex marketing and customer engagement plan, to assist more than 9.6 million TRICARE beneficiaries. The marketing and education programs for the beneficiaries, providers, and staff will be implemented through a collaborative effort between the MHS, the DHA Communications Division, the Uniformed Services Medical Services, the DHA Market Offices, the Overseas Defense Health Regions, TRICARE Contractors, and other TRICARE partners.
The candidate will work on a cross-functional team to support the DHA Communications Division to draft engaging and interactive content for a variety of communications channels and tactics to support the TRICARE mission. The candidate will be responsible for drafting and designing a suite of communications products across web, print, social media, and customer service while coordinating with the government client to ensure communications needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
- Draft materials that provide accurate, timely, and helpful information designed to increase beneficiary awareness, understanding, and acceptance of TRICARE benefits.
- Write and design briefings, brochures, fact sheets, guides (including instructor books), forms, newsletters, postcards, email marketing messages, video scripts, and web content.
- Support desktop design and graphics services including, but not limited to, the following components: developing conceptual design and layouts, providing copywriting and technical writing services, and publication designs.
- Develop communications materials such as infographics, fact sheets, social media content, and short videos, that will effectively reach target audiences.
- Work closely with SMEs to draft and design facts sheets, quick reference guides, and other decision support tools.
- Interpret and translate complex clinical content into user friendly resources written in plain language and relatable to a broad audience.
- Work closely with communications professionals, project staff, research and clinical subject matter experts, and education and training staff to develop and execute a variety of communications products.
- Edit and collate complex documents such as manuals and guides, with content contributed from a variety of stakeholders with different writing styles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, journalism, or related field
- 5+ years related experience, with at least 2 in a government or health care environment
- Ability to translate highly technical, clinical language and write in layman's terms
- Must be able to obtain a position of Public Trust

Additional Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent written and verbal communications
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years prior experience as a task lead
- 2 years of experience working in a federal government environment (e.g., VA, DoD, HHS)
- Experience with advanced graphic design tools such as Adobe InDesign, in addition to web-based tools such as Canva and Piktochart
- Familiarity with 508-compliance principles and plain language requirements
- Moderate to advanced level expertise in use of Adobe Connect, MS Teams, or conferencing platforms commonly used in the MHS
