Ardent is seeking a Technical Writing - Document Support Specialist  to join our team.  

This is a remote role.

The Technical Writing - Document Support Specialist supports the project by providing creation, management and organization of all communication materials and deliverables on the project.  This includes gathering or editing technical documentation provided by the development team, as well as materials used by the Project Manager for client communications - to include slide decks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), system manuals, and quick guide “how to” documentation.  A strong background and understanding of Section 508 or Accessibility compliance (e.g. ADA) is necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, editing and making occasional clarifying editorial decisions regarding technical documentation
  • Composing, managing and refactoring system User Guide(s)
  • Creation of new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation for team processes, and user-centric requests
  • Management of all system artifacts, including but not limited to technical guides, project management documentation, test plans, customer slide decks for demos and status updates, user quick reference guides
  • Review and remediation of all deliverables for Section 508 accessibility compliance 
  • Work with Section 508 or Accessibility compliance (e.g. ADA) trained resources or independently to:
    • Provide Accessibility Conformance Reports
    • Document features provided to help achieve accessibility and usability for people with disabilities
    • Document how to configure and install the ICT Item to support accessibility
    • Document of core functions that cannot be accessed by persons with disabilities
    • Document remediation plans to address non-conformance to the Section 508 standards

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years experience performing technical writing for applications used by large numbers of users (50+)
  • Experience performing Section 508 or Accessibility compliance (e.g. ADA) for documents as well as web-based systems
  • Experience writing user guides, SOPs, online knowledge base articles, quick reference guides, and PowerPoint slide decks; including non-technical flow diagrams
  • Experience creating and maintaining processes for management of documents; Knowledge Management Institute experience preferred, not required
  • Significant experience using MS Word, PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with MS Visio or similar diagramming software
  • Familiarity with application testing process
