Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Technician, FA to join our team in PN Bayan Lepas Penang Malaysia. 

Job Summary

A Technician supports the Failure Analysis team by executing hands‑on Defect analysis, sample preparation, FA laboratory equipment operation and data collection to identify failure modes in Disk and head. The role focuses on equipment operation, lab processes, and documentation, working under guidance of FA Engineers.

Failure Analysis Support Assist FA engineers in failure analysis investigations for:
In‑line failures Reliability test failures Customer / field returns.
Perform basic electrical and physical failure analysis following standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities:

Failure Analysis Support

  • Assist FA engineers in failure analysis investigations for:
    • In‑line failures
    • Reliability test failures
    • Customer / field returns
  • Perform basic electrical and physical failure analysis following standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Sample Preparation & Handling

  • Prepare samples for analysis, including:
    • Labeling/marking
    • Disk Orientation & Location
  • Track and manage samples throughout FA workflow.
  • Equipment Operation and maintain FA laboratory equipment such as:
    • Optical microscopes
    • AFM, Zygo & OSA  (under supervision/training)
    • Perform daily equipment checks and basic troubleshooting.
  • Capture and organize:
    • Optical images
    • Measurement data
    • Test results and observations
  • Maintain accurate and detailed FA records in databases or logbooks.
  • Support FA engineers in report preparation.

Education

  • Relevant certificationsare preferred:
    • Electronics Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Materials Science

Experience

  • 0–3 years of experience in:
    • Failure analysis laboratory
    • Test, quality, or reliability labs
  • Fresh graduates with strong hands‑on skills are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Maintenance Technician) are preferred
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends, as required
