Job Summary
The Technology Analytical Specialist will report to the Analytical group lead and will work in various Analytical labs. The daily responsibilities will be running and reporting results for standard analytical and weathering tests that characterize materials submitted by internal customers. Communication and coordination with customers is critical with the ability to adapt test methods or design new methods that meet their needs.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities:
• Performs the routine and experimental materials testing methods and protocols in an accurate and reproducible manner following quality procedures with data integrity as a focus.
• Prepares test reports for customers.
• Learns from other members of the group.
• Uses scientific method, problem solving skills, and collaboration to resolve problems.
• Participates in multiple projects simultaneously to help bring them to completion in a timely fashion.
• Supports one or more laboratories to generate material data as workloads change.
Technical Competence:
• Capable of adapting existing test methods and creating new test methods.
• Technical writing; reports results and conclusions and creates standard operating procedures.
• Has a fundamental understanding of college level materials science and engineering.
• Understands basic statistical tools like standard deviation, variance and normal distribution.
• Understands and embraces LEAN and Six Sigma processes and methodology.
• Performs work with speed and accuracy.
• Adheres to EHS policy and rules. Can interpret MSDS's and provide proper instructions.
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting customer or association specifications and standards.
Leadership Skills:
• Able to explain requirements, test methodology, and results to customers.
• Participates and is solicited as a team member.
• Understands project purpose and commitment required.
• May have responsibility for functional tasks like safety leader, ISO coordinator, etc.
External Awareness:
• Able to act professionally in front of customers and vendors.
• Understands any special relationships with customers and vendors like secrecy and non-disclosure.
Communication:
• Able to present ideas and results in a logical manner.
• Can effectively communicate technical info with other functions that are non-technical.
• Receptive to other ideas and feedback.
• Works well with others without difficulty.
• Makes customer relationships easily and has strong customer focus.
Result-oriented:
• Performs experimentation and reports results on time and within budget.
• Required reporting and documentation are completed without needing direction.
Business Acumen:
• Understands basic business strategies and how his/her work is linked.
• Ability to understand competing business needs and prioritize.
• Understands basic business metrics like revenue, costs and O.I.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry. materials science and engineering, or other related field
• Three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires a working knowledge of the polymer or related industry.

Physical Demands
• Requires remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time, and frequent communication.
• Must be able to traverse and operate computer and other office equipment.
• Typical work is in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate.
