Nationwide Insurance is seeking candidates for Technology Automation Intern positions to join the Enterprise Analytics Office (EAO) from May to August 2023.

The Technology Automation team works with Data Scientists to transform AI/ML models into integrated solutions contributing to company success. As a Technology Automation intern, you will design, develop and deploy automated solutions to deliver consumable data products and actionable insights to business partners.

Interested candidates must understand application design, programming principles, and cloud technologies with the ability to code, test, debug, optimize, document, and maintain complex application programs while being competent to work on most phases of development life-cycle with provided instruction and guidance in phases.

Candidates should have a degree in any of the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Web Development, Information Technology, or related fields.

Job Summary

Required Experience: Candidates should demonstrate hands on experience with the following expectations:
  • Programming with multiple programming/scripting languages (Python, R, Java, Shell)
  • Writing and debugging SQL queries
  • Knowledge of common Linux/Unix commands and functions
  • Must be an accomplished self-learner, demonstrating an awareness of technology trends and ability to learn and teach with limited formal training
  • Analyzes and resolves moderately complex issues related to application support and logging
  • Implement solutions with complex business requirements and systems integrations
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across teams
  • Prepares detailed specifications, requirements, scope documents, and logic flowcharts for the development and implementation of the most complex application programs and modifications
  • Application testing to ensure that the provided solution is executable, testable, complete and not ambiguous while meeting all end-user requirements
  • Understanding of the data science development lifecycle

Additional Experience:
  • Version Control (GitHub)
  • Infrastructure solutions (Docker, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Artifactory)
  • ETL development tools or libraries (PySpark, Informatica, Talend)
  • AWS Sagemaker, S3, and Cloudwatch
  • DevOps or MLOps
  • Test Automation Technologies (PyTest, Selenium, jUnit, etc.)
  • API Technology (Apigee, OAS "Swagger", REST/JSON/SOAP, Splunk, J2EE, Javascript)
