Technology Correspondent, Metaverse (Level 1 Journalist)

Reuters seeks an enterprising Technology Correspondent, Metaverse to break news on the rapidly emerging business of the metaverse. The beat spans social media, games, hardware, chips and advertising. The reporter will cultivate sources at the biggest global tech companies such as Meta, Apple, Microsoft and Roblox, as well as at critical suppliers for making and distributing metaverse content such as Nvidia, AMD, Epic Games and Unity. Key questions to frame the beat: How will Meta's multi-billion-dollar commitment to the metaverse pay off? Will Apple disrupt or redefine the sector when it enters the market? Which suppliers will win big selling picks and shovels during the metaverse gold rush? Is this more than just an investment bubble? The correspondent will collaborate with Reuters' global team of journalists across Europe and Asia seeking to answer these questions.

Based on the West Coast, the successful candidate will use exclusive stories that move markets to help give shape and definition to a rapidly developing segment of the tech industry. This reporter will be comfortable working across conventional tech and business beats without a traditional roadmap to produce scoops that will set the agenda for investors and other media outlets.

• Ability to cultivate sources and to gain access to exclusive documents
• A track record of breaking exclusive news
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Understanding of how to enhance stories using graphics. pictures and video
• At least five years of experience reporting at a major news organization
