Technology Intern Overview:

The Lilly Technology group is actively seeking interns who are self-starters and like to solve problems. Are you passionate about technology and determined to deliver impactful technology solutions? If so, please apply. At Lilly, we offer many internship roles that utilize various technical capabilities across a wide range of business areas. You are matched with a technical project based on your interests, skills, and experiences. The project will have clear objectives designed to help drive technology advancement to benefit the patients that we serve enabling you to be a key contributor and develop an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. In addition to helping Lilly deliver lifesaving medicines, you will work in key business areas using many of the technology capabilities outlined below:

  • Software Product Engineering - Productizing technology solutions that power teams across Lilly to work faster and deliver top-of-the-line services and products to our customers

  • Development, Security, & Operations - DevSecOps is a culture, which includes a set of processes and tools for collaboration and integration through development, operations and quality assurance
  • Cloud Architecture - Cloud architecture defines a network of interconnected components covering applications, services, data and infrastructure
  • Data Science & Machine Learning - Develop, deploy, and use advanced data/algorithm capabilities that empower decision-making across the company
  • Digital Product Operations - Deploy and support the digital elements that enable our molecules, devices, apps, algorithms, and data
  • Cyber Security - People-centric, secure, vigilant and resilient, capabilities that protect information, products, and systems enabling Lilly to deliver on its mission

  • User Experience Design - Deliver integrated experiences for all our consumers comprised of information, technical capabilities and services that work seamlessly together for the user
  • Business Integration - Business integrators critical ability to anticipate business needs and lead the identification of the right technical solution that generates exceed business outcomes

Responsibilities:

  • Be matched with a project based on your interests, skills and experiences

  • Work directly with business partners and end users as a technical liaison
  • Work on technology projects to fulfill a business need or drive a business outcome
  • Understand functional business areas, their current and immediate needs, and anticipate future needs
  • Respond, translate, and create customer requirements using your business and technical knowledge
  • Propose solutions and influence business decisions

  • Manage your own priorities and allocation of time to meet deadlines
  • Learn and leverage new technologies to meet and/or advance project goals

Lilly internships last for 12 continuous weeks beginning in May or June. Each intern will be assigned a project affording the opportunity to actively contribute to the organization and build a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. Professional development and social events will be held throughout the summer. At the conclusion, each intern will present their project highlights, findings, recommendations, and general internship accomplishments to senior leaders and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Currently attending a college/university and will have completed your sophomore or junior year by June 2024 in an Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Security, Business, and/or computer related academic program.

Desired Experience:

  • Career interest in technology and a passion for applying technology solutions to help patients live better lives
  • Solid skills in problem analysis and problem solving

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven teamwork/interpersonal skills
  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom
  • Familiarity with design, development, and operational methodologies (I.e. Agile, Waterfall, ITIL)
  • Passion for working on a team from diverse backgrounds

  • Familiarity with gathering and writing technical requirements
  • Familiarity with Agile concepts, methodology and framework
