Interested in learning what happens behind the doors of a diverse media enterprise? Hearst Television is offering 10-week Technology Internship opportunity, where the technology interns will be exposed to and work with the wide range of systems, technology, processes, and workflows that help to solve complex business problems.

As a Hearst Television Intern, you will transition what you learned in the college classroom or technical school to working in the real world. You will gain knowledge and insights related to how Hearst TV functions and you will be expected to contribute to the overall success of the business. You will work with smart colleagues and gain exposure to core technology platforms, IT systems, network infrastructure, software development, support, maintenance, and operation. You will work on real-world projects and initiatives in collaboration with the teams across Hearst businesses. This is your chance to bring your ideas and solutions to life and grow your skillset.

What you'll learn:
  • Overview of the technology function responsibilities and supporting efforts of the various other departments
  • What is required, technically and operationally, to perform the many tasks required to support the business in a diverse and dynamic corporate world as an Engineer
  • Exposure to technology leadership via virtual lunch and learns and panel discussions
  • Building and nurturing strong relationships with your colleagues across the business
  • A thorough understanding of departmental roles, as well as support all other departments with equal focus and attention to detail
Job Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with a team of engineers, product managers and user experience experts to build new features that our customers will love, adopt, and use while keeping our platform stable and scalable
  • Designs, implements, tests and delivers highly scalable solutions through high impact projects
  • Applies Engineering principles to solve complex problems through sound and creative engineering
  • Quickly learns new engineering methods and incorporates them into the work processes
  • Seeks feedback and applies internal or industry best practices to improve their technical solutions
  • Demonstrates skill in time management and completing software projects in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrates an ability to learn and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods, and processes to leverage in their solutions.
Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical field
  • Must have at least one additional quarter/semester of school remaining following the completion of the internship
  • One year of programming experience in any contemporary language
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively and efficiently with others
  • Strong communicator, able to present complex ideas through writing, using diagrams and verbally
  • Commitment to putting quality first and delivering quality solutions
  • Be a self-starter, possess a strong sense of self-motivation, and ability to quickly learn new technologies
The estimated base salary for this role is $20/hour. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future
