Nextdoor is seeking an experienced Technology Internal Audit Manager to join our Internal Audit team and report to the Head of Internal Audit. The ideal candidate will have 6-10 years of experience in SOX, IT operational audits, thorough understanding of technology risks and controls, and a general understanding of business processes. This is a high impact and high visibility role that requires strong leadership, broad business acumen and communication capabilities and will be a critical point of contact with IT leadership as well as external auditors. Forming strong relationships with IT business partners and fostering a collaborative environment are critical to success in this role.  

The Impact You’ll Make

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Manage and co-lead the overall SOX program including testing, reporting and monitoring of all IT controls to improve the overall control environment 
  • Contribute to the overarching SOX plan by assisting with the IT SOX risk assessment, scoping and controls rationalization & optimization process
  • Manage and oversee the work of the co-sourced provider and coordinate efforts between external auditors, and internal business process / IT owners, including alignment on SOX planning, walkthroughs, testing, audit requests and deficiency evaluation
  • Serve as a business partner to key IT stakeholders to advise on process, internal control, system implementation, risk, and compliance activities
  • Provide effective and timely reporting on SOX testing status, roadblocks, and drive plans to remove roadblocks
  • Assist in conducting enterprise risk assessment, developing and executing a risk-based internal audit plan
  • Work with cross functional teams within the organization to review current processes and identify risk areas and areas for improvement and design controls around these to reduce risk and exposure to avoid operational surprises
  • Make recommendations to improve the control environment and assist with pre-implementation control identification, issue validation and post-implementation reviews
  • Draft audit reports, review findings with management and assist in preparation of materials for the Audit Committee and meetings with executive management
  • Build and maintain relationships with all levels of management and cross-functional teams
What You’ll Bring To The Team
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, accounting and or related field
  • CIA/CISA/CISSP/CPA preferred
  • Big 4 external or internal audit or industry background with a strong focus on IT SOX and IT audits
  • Experience in managing/leading the IT SOX function and IT audits is highly desired
  • Experience in project management practices, including tooling and managing projects through a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Provide more junior team members with education, coaching, and feedback
  • Strong understanding of the internal controls framework (understand CoBIT and COSO)                      
  • Demonstrated experience in effective management reporting and problem solving
  • Effective communicator, ability to build relations & manage expectations
  • Working knowledge of SOX best practices and emerging trends

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $106,000 to $165,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
