Our work takes many forms: from breaking news and social graphics, to longform storytelling to
360 creative for annual tentpole Forbes packages like 30 Under 30, the Forbes 400 and the
Billionaires List. We amplify our work through our social platforms, which reach another 44 million
people every month.
The ideal candidate is a conceptual thinker with a great eye for business journalism photography.
This position reports to the Director of Photography.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively pitches photo interpretations of conceptual themes for daily digital stories in
  collaboration with art directors, designers, writers and editors
• Research ranges from news stories to out of the box thinking for abstract visual topics,
  such as estate planning, blockchain, financial services or retirement planning, AI and
  internet security
• Ability to work on quick deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ensure a consistent style of photography across all platforms that aligns with Forbes’
  Brand Guidelines
• Research, edit, and license imagery from libraries and PR sources
• Experience working in a CMS
• Must have a broad knowledge and curiosity about news, and a keen eye for spotting
  interesting and newsworthy visual content
• Have a good visual sense of notable people and places in the news and in business.
• Monitor news agency feeds to identify strong images for breaking and developing news
  stories and keep a watchful eye on other news sites in order to avoid using the same
  images
• Eye for detail that ensures all photos have necessary caption information
• Collaborate closely with the Forbes’ social media team to ensure stories are promoted
  with the appropriate assets across all our feeds

Requirements:

• BA/BFA in Photography or related field with 5+ years of experience as a Photo Editor at a
  media or editorial publishing company
• A portfolio that demonstrates a fresh eye for storytelling by showcasing examples of
  photography that highlight abstract concepts
• Must have a positive attitude and be a team player with strong communication skills
• Excellent organization skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced
  environment under tight deadlines
• You enjoy staying current on creative trends and industry technology, sharing findings
  with the department to facilitate new ways of thinking, working and problem solving
• Basic Photoshop shop skills are required for image sizing, silhouetting and cropping.
• Familiarity with the use of video in addition to still photography

The hourly rate for this role is $30.00 - $35.00
