Position Overview:
The Terminal Manager is accountable for supporting the Station in the success of the local P&L, operational oversight, staff management, team leadership and process development of the station to provide quality service, customer satisfaction and operational proficiency that ensures growth and profitability goals/objectives are met. Responsible for implementation and compliance with company policies and procedures, quality standards, and other applicable regulatory guidelines with respect to operational, administrative, customer service, marketing, and sales support for the station. This position will work with the sales teammates to develop and grow business in the Chicago region
What You Will Be Doing Day-to-Day:
- Closely involved with overall profitability and service performance of the Station, with specific responsibility for operations and warehouse operations for the Domestic and Local Cartage product lines.
- Review, revise, and approve all customer and station operational SOP’s with the objective of improving quality and efficiencies, while decreasing costs in the day-to-day operation of the Station.
- Review, revise, and submit customer tariffs and requests for quote to ensure maximum profitability for the station while providing exceptional service for the customer.
- Provide all necessary operational support to empower sales team to identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Manage Station operations and warehouse personnel. Mentoring of staff, conduct regular performance reviews and general overall personnel development.
- Share in the responsibility for recruitment, retention, and training development of station customer service and operational staff.
- Service all existing customers, while assisting sales in marketing AIT’s full range of transportation services to new customers. Meet company service metric expectations.
- Ensure directives, rules, and procedures are communicated to all station personnel.
- Ensure safety methods and programs are implemented and maintained.
- Utilize superior communication skills to motivate staff and develop effective working relationships with peers, executives, and clients.
- Implement and direct quality control program for all operational areas while constantly striving for cost efficiencies and while providing best of class service for our customers.
- Participate and assist in preparing for a station budget on an annual basis and monitor adherence on monthly basis to that budget. Take necessary steps when actuals move outside of tolerance.
- Ensure timely and accurate billing and posting of all transactions on a daily basis.
- Monitor all relevant Station profits / losses for anomalies; take steps to correct any ongoing issues.

Other Skills We Hope to See:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, experience can be used in lieu of education
- At least 6-8 years of experience in the industry
- 3+ years of managerial experience
- Good understanding of geography, current affairs on a global-political level
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong attention for detail
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written
- Must be PC literate
- High level of initiative
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to develop new ideas and innovative solutions
- Detail-oriented individual with great communication skills
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
