The Test Engineer evaluates, designs and implements hardware, software and firmware test setups and procedures for lab usage across sites.
This role reports to the Engineering Lab Manager and is located in Mequon, Wisconsin.
What you will do
- Evaluate existing test execution procedures and test one-line diagrams and setups and implement changes when warranted
- Develop new test execution procedures and test one-line diagrams and setups when needed with applications and inputs for cross-lab site usage.
- Design and implement certification requirements to product specific test setups, test execution, and procedure where warranted.
- Execute lab proficiency tests, intralaboratory comparison tests and measurement uncertainty testing.
- Improve existing intralaboratory comparison and measurement uncertainty test procedures and execution of those procedures.
- Utilize and interpret the following test and development instrumentation: digital oscilloscopes, analog and digital volt meters and ammeters, differential amplifiers with voltage probes, current transformers, Hall Effect current probes with amplifiers, LCR meters, torque transducers, power supplies, personal computers, dynamometers, and environmental chambers.
- Design and implement semi-automated/automated test setup templates using programming and languages such as RS Logix (ladder logic), C, Visual Basic, Python.
- Participate in internal and external ISO 17025 lab audits and be available as a trained internal auditor.
- Operate cranes, hoists, fork lift and other material handling equipment as required.

Basic qualifications
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Ability to travel 5% of the time
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Preferred qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of product development and/or testing experience
- Design & troubleshooting experience in any of the following: RS Logix, C, Visual Basic, Python
- Proficient with MS Office Tools and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) software
- Must exhibit excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Rockwell Automation products or other industrial control equipment
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 requirements
- Experience with data analysis of laboratory comparison testing, uncertainty measurements, and proficiency tests
- Training in and experience with Design for Six Sigma (DfSS) methods
- Application of certification requirements such as UL508, EN/IEC 61800-3, EN/IEC 61800-5, etc. in both a design and test space
