Division & Business Function

EQ Retirement Solutions (EQRS) provides member and policyholder administration and technology services; we’re trusted experts to many of the UK’s largest public and private sector schemes, long-term savings and retirement providers, no matter the scale and complexity.

Client Product Delivery (CPD) Testing; supports medium to large scale programmes and projects, by providing testing and quality assurance services. Projects consist of client implementations, software & infrastructure updates, bespoke client enhancements and legislation changes.

Role Summary

The role of a Automation Test Engineer is to support the Test Manager and Test Leads(s) in the CPD Testing team through system testing configured software platforms using manual and automation tools that meet customers’ requirements for the Compendia and the Administrator applications.

Day-to-day activities will focus on developing automated test conditions and test scripts against business requirements or previous manual test scripts, with appropriate test data and expected results creation. Assisting test estimation exercises for test planning purpose, with associated risk assessment around levels of test coverage. Test execution while accurately recording and storing test results, raising defects, retest and participation in fault reviews.

As a Automation Test Engineer within the testing team, some direct client contact may be required.

Core Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Analysing business requirements to determine automated testing requirements
• Defect tracking and monitoring - for issues, fault investigations and triage of faults incorporating severity ratings
• Monitor any change control to original requirements for impact analysis and capture these changes within a traceability matrix or within TFS/Jira
• Fully understand how all aspects of their work integrates with the rest of the SDLC and STLC
• Automation and manual Test execution while accurately recording and storing test results
• Definition of test data for test cases and expected results
• Implementing scheduled tests, execution and logging the tests and evaluating the results and documenting any deviations from expected results
• Work with technical services for the setting up the test environment(s)
• Defect tracking and monitoring - for issues, fault investigations and triage of faults incorporating severity ratings
• Ensure successful delivery and conclusion of all test activities to meet the project target date

Skills, Qualifications and Knowledge

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills, behaviours and able to fulfil the role:

• Must be ISEB/ISTQB qualified to foundation level
• Ability to absorb technical information when it is presented systematically and applies it effectively.
• Ability to create automated scripts and manual test scripts
• Understands and uses appropriate standard test engineering methods, tools and applications.
• Experience in preparing test environment to execute test cases (Test Data)
• A good understanding of test methods, covering - system testing, regression testing, exploratory testing, negative testing and platform testing
• Experience of Microsoft Azure DevOps or JIRA
• Strong background in Selenium test automation tooling and framework
• Exposure to QF-Test an advantage
• Experience of BrowserStack
• A good level of SQL scripting experience
