Description: 

Shift5 is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to join our hardware team.This position will be responsible for testing our product before it is delivered to customers and deployed on equipment. You will be expected to design and implement automated test systems to quickly verify units are working as intended. You will also be responsible for writing and maintaining procedures and training the team on how to use the testing system. You will be responsible for identifying, troubleshooting and fixing any issues before delivery, while also ensuring the identified issues are captured and reported back to the hardware team to prevent the issue from occurring in the future. This is a full-time role based out of our Arlington, VA office location.

The ideal candidate is someone who gets energized by the possibility of building something new. This is a new role where you will spearhead hardware testing at Shift5, defining how and when units should be tested to guarantee the correct functionality. In this new role, you will be involved with all the phases of product development and production. Our product and our team are growing smartly and quickly. We're looking for someone who is/has:

  • 3+ years of experience in test-related roles in a development and production environment (experience in an electronic production company highly preferred)
  • Skilled in data and system analysis using various tools (labview, python, etc.) to evaluate the unit under tests
  • Self-starter with a curiosity about processes and products, willing to dive into problems
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master degree preferred)
  • US citizenship required
  • Able to obtain or hold a US Government Security Clearance
