Position Summary: The Test Engineer is responsible for maintaining standards of quality for chassis systems module and sub-systems (ultimate strength and fasteners) testing using various methods. This position will be responsible for defining, planning, documenting, executing, analyzing, interpreting and reporting tests. Scope of testing includes new development, current and past projects.

Responsibilities:

• Design, analyze, and interpret chassis system & sub-system tests with minimal supervision.
• Schedule, oversee and verify prototype testing and tracks work conducted on prototypes.
• Investigate and resolve operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical staff.
• Provide advice and technical support to engineering groups.
• Track supplier durability tests; lead and direct technicians in the setup, performance, and evaluation of tests.
• Assist in establishing and updating of test laboratory policies and procedures.
• Provide engineering support for the re-working, repairs and improvement of existing test equipment.
• Maintain calibration instrumentation.
• Survey commercially available test equipment/instrumentation & recommend procurement and utilization.
• Develop new test equipment as needed when not available commercially.
• Create precise technical reports processing the achieved test results and create precise technical specifications considering customer and internal requirements.
• Assist in development of internal quality control and reliability programs.
• Coordinate with external labs for testing of requirements that exceed current in-house testing capabilities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
• 0-2+ years of experience in automotive chassis system testing
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point and Project
• Strong analytical, organizational and follow up skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Familiarity with servo hydraulics operation including safety requirements preferred
• Clear understanding of steel fraction behavior, lifetime and result analysis (Woehler & Weibull Method) preferred
• Deep knowledge of the technical components and critical functions of Chassis systems preferred
