Job Title: Test Engineer II

Introduction:

The Test Engineer will contribute to the test efforts for solutions provided for Toshiba's Point of Sale (POS) Self-checkout products. This role requires the skills and ability to manage the test delivery of multiple customer projects and provide feedback to software and hardware engineers to ensure the delivery of quality solutions. The ideal candidate will excel in our fast-paced, collaborative, customer-first environment and will contribute in multiple ways. The job will require the Test Engineer to understand customer requirements and translate them into specific test scenarios, understanding technical designs as well as the specifications to maximize product quality. The tester will be responsible to be an advocate for the store personnel responsible for installing and supporting the Self-checkout environment as well as the customers in the store trying to pay for their goods. The combination of sensors and complex state machines will require the manual execution of many test cases and user scenarios. The tester works within the framework of Self-Checkout Product Engineering Team and Hardware development test environment.

This person will be responsible for the following:

• Review specs, designs, code, and existing tests cases
• Exploratory testing
• User scenarios Review
• Test case creation
• Physical installation, movement, maintenance, and configuration of Self-Checkout hardware.
• Executing test cases (via Automation framework and Manual)
• User Feedback
• Traceability Matrixes

Responsibilities:

• Review custom software design documents and participate in design review discussions. Review Agile functional specifications
• Create test cases from software design documents
• Execute test cases, report defects and track defect resolutions. Perform maintenance regression software tests
• Stage/set-up test environment including hardware and software installations. Manage test equipment inventory, track assets, and coordinate with manager to acquire additional equipment
• Create and provide feedback on documentation for various initiatives including test plans, custom installation procedures, process improvements, etc.
• Communicate closely with the project team leads and managers on test statuses, risks, mitigation plans, etc. Provide recommendations to the project team for shipping solutions to clients. Provide input to "Go"/ "No Go" decisions. Provide on-site support (as needed) and work with clients upon software delivery, participate in external project meetings
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

• Consumer level familiarity with the Self-Checkout lanes used in major retail grocers.
• Experience with managing deliveries for multiple clients.
• Experience with test methodologies and SDLC.
• Experience with setting up a test environment and creating a fully integrated solution.
• Quality assurance analysis and defect management
• BA/BS in computer programming or related field
• Able to read, write and speak English proficiently and be an effective verbal and written communicator.
• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum development methodologies, VersionOne or other Agile project management tools
• Basic understanding of Linux & Linux filesystem
• Able to present statuses in a clear concise manner to management and clients.
• Empowered to be an advocate for the customer and provide clear feedback to ensure the software and hardware solution meets their needs.
