We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to develop, execute and manage our new Hardware in the Loop / Software in the loop lab space in support of our Space Destinations efforts. This position will be based out of the Sierra Space Centennial Colorado office location.

We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to be intimately involved in leading the early development and deployment of our space destinations' Hardware in the Loop / Software in the Loop (HIL/SIL) lab space.
As the Senior Test Engineer - HIL/SIL Lead at Sierra Space, you will be leading a team of engineers and technicians to develop and execute the HIL/SIL lab for Space Destinations. You will be using your skills and expertise to develop and evaluate early lab requirements and work with sub-system leads to incorporate new systems for the lab. You'll develop complex test plans and procedures for a variety of systems for execution in the HILS/SIL lab. You will also be involved with the execution of the tests using top industry tools. As a cross functional engineer, you'll test at both the system and component level new products and develop new test processes throughout the product lifecycle.

Must-haves:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of Education. Higher education may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Experience in the establishment and operations of an Aerospace HIL/SIL laboratory space
  • Demonstrated experience planning, conducting and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities based on established test requirements

Preferred:
  • Expert in test design and execution of complex, integrated products or systems, including spacecraft, aircraft, ships, or other similar large and complex systems that incorporate electrical, mechanical, and software components
  • Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar degree
  • Adept at defining and implementing test scripts and code (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB) for control, telemetry, data acquisition, and analysis of complex integrated systems
  • Experience with the design and use of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) including power supplies, controls, instruments, sensors, networking equipment, communications equipment (including RF signal/network analyzers), data acquisition equipment, and associated software and wiring
  • Experience with interpreting and designing testing to fit electrical and network schematics and channelization tables
  • Experience with software testing including functionality, performance, and regression testing
  • Experience with a variety of instrumentation and sensors to test electrical, mechanical, optical, etc. characteristics
  • Experience with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies to include manual and automated testing
  • Ability to prepare complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports in order to demonstrate compliance to system requirements
  • Familiarity with Product and Quality Assurance principles and experienced in generation and disposition of product non-conformances
  • Experience performing certification testing for various certification organizations (i.e., FAA, NASA, DoD)
  • Ability to read schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and use logical trouble shooting techniques

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $120,552.10 - $165,759.14
Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
