What You Will Contribute:
An Engineer I is responsible for working in the Hydro lab to perform accuracy, research and development, and mechanical testing on new and existing products. This position will assist with defining test plans and product implementations. This position will apply engineering fundamentals to test scenarios, troubleshooting, and analyze meter performance. This individual must have the willingness and ability to learn, work effectively in a multi-discipline team, demonstrate effective problem solving, initiative, and motivation.
Duties, responsibilities, Accountabilities:
- Executing mechanical tests based on procedures throughout the Hydro lab including testing production components on various test lines, configuring and operating test setups and fixtures based on test plans and standards
- Research, develop, create, plan, coordinate, implement, test systems, process monitoring systems, and data collection systems in the Hydro Lab
- Assist in defining test plans
- Working with Supervisor, Design Engineers and development team on product functionality and performance
- Reviewing accuracy and consistency of data results
- Submitting accurate test reports and technical support to various engineering departments.
- Strong mathematical skills and understanding of Excel
- Communicating observations seen during tests and/or test set-ups
- Understanding schematics and/or technical drawings
- Using instrumentation such as micrometers, scales, calipers, microscope, etc. for part inspection and other calibration of lab equipment
- Make improvements to test equipment and lab procedures in order to improve both safety & productivity of the Hydro and mechanical test labs
- Perform product and design verification tests
- Learn and navigate Badger Meter systems and procedures
- Gain familiarization with Badger Meter product portfolio
- Become familiar with the Badger Meter safety policies
- May participate on project teams
- Develop/Validate/Audit/Review Level III procedures (specific work tasks)
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or related experience
- Solid foundation with engineering fundamentals
- Experience with MS Visual Studio, C#, C++, Lab View, Allen Bradly PLC, Python
- Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to test scenarios
- Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to troubleshooting
- Ability to analyze tolerances on a design
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written)
- Ability to operate on a manufacturing floor as applicable
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team
- Demonstrates strong initiative and motivation
- Demonstrates ability to effectively solve problems
