Test Engineer - The Toro Company

As the Test Engineer, you will be responsible for developing test programs, directing tests, and analyzing test results as well as communicate results and recommendations to design engineering, electrical engineering and management personnel.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

• Aid in the performance evaluation of prototype and production equipment using field tests and lab environments with simulated field conditions.
• Direct and conduct field and laboratory testing of products and/or components.
• Design and direct construction of test fixtures or systems to simulate use for lab performance and durability testing.
• Organize test programs, including facilities, manpower, procedures and timing.
• Review product designs for potential areas of weakness. Work closely with design engineering to improve product durability.
• Perform concept evaluations and engineering feasibility evaluations.
• Review designs for potential latent safety defects.
• Report test results on a timely basis.
• Work with Quality engineers to develop production validation test programs. Evaluate results and recommend corrective action when required.
• Support company Quality Policy by working within the documented Quality System. Participate in quality initiatives and training as needed.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

• Professional Engineering license, or
• B.S. Degree from an ABET accredited Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautical Engineering program, or
• Masters Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Agricultural Engineering from a university with an ABET accredited undergraduate engineering program.

Other Job-Related Components:

• Works on projects or matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. Receives general instructions on route work and detailed instructions on new projects.
• Travel to test sites, vendors, manufacturing facilities, customers and others, as required.
• May give work direction to test technicians or drafters.
• • Entry level or intern work experience desirable.
  • Completion of EIT requirements desirable.
  • Additional education in Software or Mechatronics Engineering desirable.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify and sort out relevant information.
  • Growing efficiency in applying test development skills to problem solving. Uses professional concepts.

It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
