The Test Engineer is responsible for developing test programs, directing tests, and analyzing test results. Communicates results and recommendations to design engineering; electrical engineering and management personnel.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Aids in the performance evaluation of prototype and production equipment using field tests and lab environments with simulated field conditions.
  • Directs and conducts field and laboratory testing of products and/or components.
  • Designs and directs construction of test fixtures to simulate use for lab performance and durability testing.
  • Organizes test programs, including facilities, manpower, procedures and timing.
  • Reviews product designs for potential areas of weakness. Works closely with design engineering to improve product durability.
  • Reviews designs for potential latent safety defects.
  • Performs concept evaluations and engineering feasibility evaluations.
  • Reports test results on a timely basis.
  • Works with Quality engineers to develop production validation test programs. Evaluates results and recommends corrective action when required.
  • Supports company Quality Policy by working within the documented Quality System. Participates in quality initiatives and training as needed.
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Professional Engineering license, or
  • B.S. Degree from an ABET accredited Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautical Engineering program and one (1) to three (3) years engineering experience, or
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Agricultural Engineering from a university with an ABET accredited undergraduate engineering program and zero (0) to two (2) years engineering experience.
  • Additional education in Software or Mechatronics Engineering desirable.
  • Completion of EIT requirements desirable.
  • Preferred experience with off road equipment or automotive test system development using Labview RT, FPGA, TestStand, and VeriStand products or equivalent test systems.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems desired.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify and sort out relevant information.
  • Demonstrated efficiency in applying Test development skills to problem solving.
  • Able to influence peers in setting direction on projects with minimal assistance. Uses professional concepts.
  • Able to communicate technical input and opinions.

Engineer I-0-2 years experience

Engineer II-2-4 years experience

Engineer III-5+ years experience

Other Job-Related Components:

  • Travel to test sites, vendors, manufacturing facilities, customers and others, as required.
  • Works independently on problems of moderate scope.
  • Receives technical assistance and guidance on unique or complex problems.
  • May give work direction to test technicians or drafters.
